As the footy season draws to an end, fans are barracking hard this week for their favourite team to be crowned Grand Final Champions. Meanwhile, Green Leaves Early Learning has been supporting Brisbane western suburbs’ favourite cubs for the second year in a row – the mighty Kenmore Bears Junior AFC team.

Proudly sponsored by Green Leaves Kenmore and Green Leaves Chapel Hill, the Kenmore Bears Junior AFC is a much-loved club amongst Green Leaves families. The club prides itself as a “family” club, with over 300 registered players in teams aged from under 8 to under 17’s. It’s also home to a very successful Auskick program for 5 to 12 year olds.

The Bears, as they’re fondly known, have a legacy of over half a century and a long history of successful teams – did you know that former Brisbane Lions fullback Mal Michael started playing football with the Kenmore Bears at the age of 3? The club still has a strong connection to the Lions – some of its players have been making the Lions Academy team recently. The Bears also recently visited the Lions women’s team at their training grounds.

At Green Leaves, we value activities that keep our children active, engaged and encourages them to be a part of the local community. You’ll spot the familiar Green Leaves logo at Akuna Oval in Kenmore where The Bears have been playing, as well as on the sleeve of their jerseys.

The Bears are affiliated with the AFLQ South East Queensland Juniors, with its junior teams playing in various divisions against other clubs in the region.
