Green Leaves Early Learning is excited to be a proud sponsor of the Athelstone Cricket Club in Adelaide. Based in Athelstone on George Street, the Club’s home ground is local to both Green Leaves Newton and Green Leaves Glynde.
The family-based Club was originally founded in 1950 and is run purely by enthusiastic volunteers. Committee members, coaches, team managers, scorers and fundraising are all undertaken by volunteers and families of the Club.
The Club runs a five- to nine-year-old program to support younger players to develop basic cricket skills in a supportive and non-competitive environment. It’s a fantastic introduction to cricket, focused on fun, fitness, and sportsmanship.
Many of the Club’s young participants go on to participate in the Junior Teams. The Junior program focuses on inclusion, participation, and skill development. In addition to developing gross motor skills, playing cricket can have many benefits for children, including building stamina, self-confidence, and social skills.
The Summer cricket season has already begun, and we can’t wait to connect with the Club to show our support and share the passion for the sport with children at our local centres.
