hero--Green Leaves Griffin Celebrates 10 Years of Service to the Community

Green Leaves Early Learning Griffin sprouted ten years ago in the heart of Griffin to meet the growing needs for quality early education and care of local families. Over the years, the centre has expanded to accommodate the rapid growth of the suburb, and today, it stands as a vibrant and enriching space for children and families.

For several years, Green Leaves Griffin was the only early learning centre in the area, and as the suburb grew, so did the diversity of families. Today, Green Leaves Griffin is part of a thriving, multicultural community.

Following its second birthday, the centre saw its first major expansion with the construction of a second building which included additional learning hubs and a beautifully designed outdoor environment for the Nursery children to explore and connect with nature in an open space.

This thoughtful integration of nature has become one of the centre’s most cherished features, appealing to families who value the importance of outdoor learning and a calming environment. As the trees have grown over the years, so too has Green Leaves Griffin’s connection to nature, creating a space where children develop a deep appreciation for the natural world.

As the years went on, the centre continued to evolve. Green Leaves Griffin’s growth has been guided by a team of dedicated Educators and a leadership team who work together to create an environment that fosters learning, connection, and community.

Head of Operations, Kirsten Berry shares her reflections about Green Leaves Griffin. ‘It really is a privilege to be a part of the community for ten years. The faith and trust placed in Green Leaves by our families is truly humbling.

We’ve been so fortunate to be a part of the children’s learning journeys in those early years that form a foundation for the leap they take later in life, as they go through their schooling years.

I’m proud of the centre’s leadership team, and our educating team, for their shared belief and dedication to the common goal of bringing the Green Leaves difference to life every day, in all that they do,’ said Kirsten.

Alyce, Centre Director of Green Leaves Griffin, has been an integral part of this journey. Alyce shares her vision for the future, ‘My hope for Green Leaves Griffin is to continue our journey of transforming early learning by implementing inclusive, enriching, and empowering experiences for both children and families.

‘It’s a place where children feel valued as individuals and where their unique needs and strengths are recognised and nurtured.

I envision a future where we redefine what quality early education means – not just in terms of academic outcomes, but also in nurturing a deep sense of belonging, emotional well-being, and social development,’ said Alyce.

Green Leaves Griffin’s philosophy is grounded in the belief that children’s ideas, concepts, and theories are integral to their learning experiences. Educators actively encourage children to take part in designing their environments and developing a sense of ownership and belonging.

This approach, combined with the thoughtful inclusion of natural elements in the learning spaces, ensures that children connect with the world around them while developing important life skills such as curiosity, problem-solving, empathy and an appreciation for the natural world.

Educator, Nicole, who has been with the centre for all ten incredible years, believes the success of Green Leaves can be attributed to its strong leadership and supportive relationships amongst the team.

The centre is immensely close to her heart. ’My wish is that Green Leaves Griffin continues to make a positive difference in the lives of children and continues to empower Educators to contribute to our collective success,’ said Nicole.

Green Leaves Griffin looks forward to the future with excitement and optimism, with a shared vision to continue delivering quality early childhood education and care, and positively impacting families, children, and the broader community in meaningful ways.
