This collection notice describes how we, Green Leaves Early Learning Centres Pty Ltd ACN 602 270 440 and its holding company or subsidiaries (“Green Leaves”), collect and handle personal information of children attending Green Leaves Early Learning Centres (Centres) and their parents and guardians.
The types of personal information we collect about you and your child are set out in our enrolment form. Some of that personal information is sensitive information, such as health information and cultural background information. Where an item is indicated as optional, it is up to you whether you choose to provide an answer.
We also collect personal information about your child when they attend our Centres. This includes information about their behaviour, health, eating, sleep times, toileting, attributes and personality, preferences and interests and other information compiled in the child’s learning portfolio. It may also include photographs, where you have given your consent, and CCTV footage.
We may also collect some personal information from your child’s health provider in limited circumstances, such as where relevant to a child’s Additional Child Care Subsidy (ACCS) entitlement.
In addition to what is provided in the enrolment form, we may also collect personal information about you:
- via CCTV at Centres; and
- from Centrelink, in relation to childcare subsidy percentage and activity hours.
We are required to collect some of this personal information in order to comply with the Education and Care Services National Law and National Regulations and the corresponding legislation in your state. For personal information not required by law, you may choose not to provide the information. However, this may impact the early education services we can provide to your child.
We use personal information of you and your child for the primary purpose of providing early learning services to your child and managing their enrolment.
Green Leaves may disclose your child’s personal information in the following circumstances:
- to authorised contacts and Storypark update recipients in accordance with your directions;
- to external stakeholders, where relevant to assist your child with their specific learning needs;
- to regulators verifying Green Leaves’ compliance with record keeping requirements in relation to children;
- to State health departments in the case of an outbreak of an infectious disease (however, your child will not be identified if not required to be);
- to Green Leaves website visitors and Facebook group members (where you have consented to photos being shared on these platforms);
- to Centrelink, for the purposes of:
- linking your parent or guardian to the Centre so that Centrelink can pay your CCS entitlement; and
- assisting you to apply for ACCS
- to government bodies for the purposes of:
- arranging or claiming funding for your child’s kindergarten/pre-school program; and
- in response to a request for census information; and
- to law enforcement agencies at their request.
Green Leaves has policies in place that restrict a child’s personal information being shared with parents/guardians of other children at the Centre.
Green Leaves uses some IT systems in which some information is stored overseas. The countries in which information may be stored include the United States, Canada, South America, Denmark, Ireland, Singapore and Germany.
Otherwise, Green Leaves does not routinely disclose personal information to recipients located outside Australia.
